The DOCVA Educational Department was born in 2008 as a structure dedicated to involve children and teenagers with contemporary art through the collection of materials preserved at the documentation center (videos, artist portfolios, catalogues, books and specialized magazines).
Didactic activities include laboratories and animated visits at the exhibitions held at the spaces of the contemporary art associations Careof and Viafarini. Paths proposed are based on methodologies which conceive contemporary art as a unique opportunity for learning, observe reality with new and curious eyes, develop a critical judgment to fight against stereotypes and prejudices, and open up towards what appears to be different.
The DOCVA Educational Department has started the Education Lab project since 2011, as the first Italian network dedicated to the education through contemporary art.
All activities are recognized by Comune di Milano, Assessorato Famiglia Scuola e Politiche Sociali, and are generously supported by the contributions of Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lombardia e Fondazione Cariplo.
